Vetiver oil and its non-polar and polar fractions have been tested for their bioefficacy against adults of Tribolium castaneum Herbst. Vetiver oil was found to be effective at all the concentrations between 30–50 mg g−1, the higher concentrations resulting in higher and faster mortality. The non-polar petroleum ether fraction was the most active and the acetone fraction, the least. Petroleum ether fraction when subjected to column chromatography yielded khusinol as confirmed by FT-IR, 1HNMR and 13C NMR spectroscopy and mass spectrometry.
