Abstract

Foliar application of a combination product of flubendiamide + thiacloprid on redgram @ 48 + 48 and 96 + 96 g a.i. ha−1 on red gram provided initial deposits of flubendiamide at 0.062 and 0.108 mg kg−1 at standard and double dose, respectively in the immature grains which reached below determination limit on the 1st day after application. At harvest, the residues were below determination limit (BDL) in matured pods (grains) and soil. Thiacloprid dissipated at a slower rate with initial deposits of 0.179 and 0.251 mg kg−1 in the immature grains which reached BDL on the 10th and 20th days at the standard and the double dose, respectively. The dissipation of the residues for both the doses was biphasic. Residues in standard dose followed 1st order kinetics during first 24 hours and dissipated with half-life of 0.73 day whereas from 3rd day onwards the residues dissipated with half-life of 13.68 days. The residues in double dose also followed 1st order kinetics during first 24 hours and dissipated with half-life of 0.77 day whereas from 3rd day onwards the residues dissipated with half-life of 18.81 days. At harvest, the residues were below determination limit in matured pods and soil. Theoretical maximum dietary intake (TMDI) of flubendiamide and thiacloprid was 0.036 and 0.086% of their maximum permissible intake (MPI), respectively. Thus the application of combination product of flubendiamide and thiacloprid does not pose health risk and is safe for use on red gram.
