Abstract

Persistence of ipconazole and metalaxyl is reported in the seedling, cob and mature grain of maize following seed treatment with their combination product. Ipconazole residues persisted till 2nd and 5th day in the seedling after emergence at recommended and double the recommended doses, respectively. The corresponding persistence of metalaxyl in the seedling was observed till 5th and 10th day after emergence. At harvest the residues of both the fungicides were below determination limit of 0.01 μg g−1 in cob, matured grain and soil at either dose of seed treatment. The dissipation of ipconazole and metalaxyl followed first order kinetics with halflife ranging from 1.43–3.14 and 1.28–2.32 days, respectively.
