Abstract

A field study on bio-efficacy of different insecticides against citrus whitefly, Dialeurodes citri (Ashmead) on citrus mandarin (var. Kinnow) was carried out during 2014 in Haryana. Monocrotophos 36WSC, triazophos 40 EC, ethion 50 EC and novaluron 10 EC, and neem formulation alone and monocrotophos and triazophos in combination with neem formulation 300 ppm (Nimbecidine) were applied twice at 15 days interval. The population of nymphs and adults of D. citri were visually recorded one day before spray of insecticides and then at 1, 3, 7, and 14 days after spray. The application of triazophos 40 EC + neem formulation 300 ppm was found most effective in reducing the nymphal and adult population in comparison to control at 1, 3 and 7 days after the spray, and it was at par with the application of triazophos 40 EC and ethion 50 EC. The reduction in nymphal and adult population was up to 87 per cent at 7 days after the spray. The build up of nymphal as well as adult population was observed after 7 days of spray and the pest population recorded in different treatments at 14 days after spray was at par with the control treatment.
