Abstract

In a laboratory study, using four typical soils of Karnataka, the rate of degradation of carbofuran and fenitrothion was more rapid in flooded soils than in non-flooded soils (under field capacity). But the degradation of carbendazim did not show appreciable differences between flooded and non-flooded conditions even after 70 days of incubation. Carbofuran phenol and 3-methyl-4-nitro-phenol were the major metabolities which degraded further in soils.
