Six alkyl/allyl/benzyl asaraldoxime ethers (4–9) and a cyclopropane analogue (10) were prepared from β-cis-asarone (1), the principal constituent of the oil of rhizomes of Acorus calamuss All lhe derivatives along with asarone were tested as contact poisons against nymphs of the red cotton bug (Dysdercus koenigii). From the mortality data, a side chain of 3–4 carbon atoms seems to be optimum for insecticidal activity.
