Abstract

Efficacy of sulfoxaflor 12 SC is reported for the control of aphids on potato crop during 2017–18 and 2018–19 crop seasons in comparison with thiamethoxam 25 WDG and oxydemeton methyl 25 EC. During both the years, all the insecticidal treatments were significantly better than control. The population of aphids was significantly lower in sulfoxaflor 12 SC @ 24 g a.i.ha−1, being at par with its higher dose of 27 g a.i.ha−1 and the standards thiamethoxam 25 WDG @ 25 g a.i.ha−1 and oxydemeton methyl 25 EC @ 187.5 g a.i.ha−1 followed by sulfoxaflor @ 21 g a.i.ha−1. The pooled analysis of two years trials showed that yield was significantly higher in treated plots over control. Among all the treatments, significantly higher yield was obtained in sulfoxaflor 12 SC @ 24 and 27 g a.i ha−1 (269.25 and 269.92 qha−1) which was at par with thiamethoxam 25 WDG @ 25 g a.i.ha−1 (268.67 qha−1) and oxydemeton methyl 25 EC @ 187.5 g a.i.ha−1 (268.25 qha−1). These treatments were significantly better than sulfoxaflor 12 SC @ 21 g a.i.ha−1 (259.97 qha−1) and control (232.33 qha−1) in yield of potato. However, significanty lower population of coccinellids was observed in all the treatments as compared to control.
