Abstract

Okra is one of the most commonly cultivated crop in India. So analysis of pesticide residues in okra is important for both environment and for human health. Therefore, a method for quantitative analysis of pesticide residues has been developed in okra using QuEChERS sample preparation technique and by gas chromatography tandem mass spectrometry. 99 pesticides under different classes were analyzed. The method was validated for the selected pesticides in accordance with the SANTE guidelines and the optimized method was used for analysis of market samples. The spiking levels for the recovery experiments were 10, 25 and 50 ng g−1. The recovery was between 70–120% and the corresponding precision was < 20%.
