The present study developed and validated an easy, sensitive and improved method for ascertaining selected polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) in human serum sample. The liquid-liquid extraction was followed by cleanup with florisil-sodium sulphate bed. Extraction and clean-up method were optimized using solvents namely n-hexane, dichloromethane and ethyl acetate in different combinations. Method validation was performed with GC-ECD. Recoveries for different congeners ranged between 70 to 124% when spiked at 0.5 -50 ng mL−1. The precision, LOQm, MDL, ME and R2 are within the acceptable range (<11%; 0.28 to 6 ng mL−1; 0.09 to 2 ng mL−1; -20 to 20; 0.990–0.999, respectively). The results shows that, the present developed method is sensitive, making it convenient for the determination of 37 PCBs in serum sample analysis.
