Abstract

A field experiment was conducted to evaluate the efficacy of different insecticides against fall armyworm during Rabi 2021. Among the insecticides evaluated, the lowest mean larva per plant of 0.44, 0.58, 0.48 and 0.54 were recorded in tetraniliprole 18.18 SC @ 0.5 mL L-1, chlorantraniliprole 18.5 SC @ 0.4 mL L-1 , isocycloceram 200 SC @ 0.4 mL L-1 and broflanilide 20 SC @ 0.25 mL L-1, respectively, providing 88.9, 85.3, 87.8 and 86.2% larval reduction over control. The least mean leaf damage score of 1.25 was recorded in tetraniliprole which recorded the highest yield of 54.95 q ha-1 and cost: benefit (C:B) ratio of 1:2.4, followed by isocycloceram (54.02 q ha-1) with C:B ratio 1:2.43, chlorantraniliprole (53.15 q ha-1) with C: B ratio of 1:2.3 and broflanilide (53.47 q ha-1) with C:B ratio of 1:2.2. The lowest yield (38.7 q ha-1) and C:B ratio of 1:1.8 were recorded in the treatment chlorfluazuron 5.4 EC @ 2.0 mL L-1.
