Abstract

The effect of two benzoyl phenyl urea derivatives viz Dimilin (Diflubenzuron), Baysir-8514 (Alsystin) and a juvenile hormone analog Hydroprene was studied on the nymphal mortality, nymphal development and morphological changes in subsequent developed adults of cockroach. Periplaneta americana (Linn.). Out of three compounds evaluated, Dimilin admixtured with diet at 0.075 percent concentration delayed nymphal moulting, while its 0.1 percent concentration resulted in 100 percent mortality in all nymphal stages. Baysir-8514 and Hydroprene did not exhibit any significant effect. Nymphal development was also not affected by injection of any of the compounds.
