Abstract

Effect of carbaryl on the haemolymph free amino acids (FAA) of Spodoptera titura was investigated. Out of the 18 amino acids isolated from the haemolymph, two amino acids viz., isoleucine and aspartic acid which could not be detected by paper chromatography were detected by amino acid analyzer. Sulfur containing FAA cysteine and methionine were in very low concentration (0.05 and 0.27 u mole/ml). It was observed that carbaryl depleted most of the amino acids in haemolymph. Changes in amino acid concentration are discussed in relation to metabolic and other physiological activities.
