Abstract

The rice samples collected from different parts of Tamil Nadu were found to be contaminated only with HCH-isomers and to less extent with DDT. The mean, median and 90th percentile values of HCH are 0.037, 0.024 and 0.090 mg/kg. DDT was present in only 12 out of 133 samples. The mean level of residues was 0.001 mg/kg. Malathion was not detected in any of the samples analysed.
