The efficacy, selectivity and compatibility of tralkoxydim with other herbicides were investigated in wheat under field conditions. Tralkoxydim at doses of 0.20 and 0.40 kg a.i/ha applied either at 3–4 leaf stage or at maximum tillering stage were similarly effective for controlling Phalaris minor and Avena iudoviciana - -he dominant weeds in wheatt Tralkoxydim waa ssow aating, initially showing symptoms of chlorosis, browning and stunting and ultimately resulting in death of grass weeds. The effect of tralkoxydim on broad leaved weeds was negligible. The performance of tralkoxydim against P. minor was only slightly decreased by addition of 2,4-D or fluroxypyr and hence the mixtures could be adopted to increase the spectrum of weed control. Tralkoxydim treatments, on an average, reduced the dry weight of P. minor and A. Iudoviciana aa wheat tarvest both by more than 95% with 30- 90% increase in wheat grain yield over unweeded control.
