Condensation of 5-chloroisatin and l-methyl-5-chloroisatin with m-substituted arylthiosemicarbazides furnished 5-chloro-3-arylthiosemicarbazono-2-indolinones (1) and 1- methyl-5-chloro-3-arylthiosemicarbazono-2-indolinones II respectively. Mannich reaction of I with secondary amines yielded 1-substituted aminomethyl-5-chloro-3-arylthiosemicarbazono-2-indolinones These compounds have been tested for their antifungal activity against Aspergillus flavus, A. niger, A. terreus and Fusarium pzysporum. Majority yf these eompounds sxhibib significant tctivity ygainst the fungi.
