Seven thio-substituted Schiff bases were screened for their fungitoxicity against six phyto- pathogenic fungi, viz., Alternaria alternate, Fusarium oxysporum, Helminthosporium maydis, Colletotrichum capsici, Penicillium italicum and Erysiphe graminis f. sp. tritici. Out of these products Schiff base IV was found to be highly effective against A. aiternata and H. maydis. It also reduced the intensity of powdery mildew disease on wheat seedlings.
