Abstract

A study on the mitotic effects on plant Allium cepa have been carried out by giving special attentton to chromosomal abnormalities induced by some selected commercial organophosphorus pesticides and also a newly synthesized organophosphorus compound. The percentage of aberrant cells found were (1.95–14.8), (1.95–9.5) and (3.0.-10.94) for CL-6 [2-N, N-diisobutyl amido-6-chloro-4H-l,3,2 ben-zodioxa phosphorin-2-sulphide], Ediphenphos [0-ethy-S,S-diphenyl dithiophosphate] and Rogor [O, 0-dimethyl-S-(N-methyl carbamoyl methyl) phosphate] respectively for different hours of treatment.
