Abstract

A simplified method for residue extraction of the fungicide pyroquilon from soil and its determination by reversed-phase high performance liquid chromatography has been developed. Extraction of treated soil sample with methanol followed by simple cleanup gave good recovery (96%) of pyroquilon from soil. After cleanup, the residues were taken up in the mobile phase, methanol: water (7:3 v/v) and subjected to reversed-phase high performance liquid chromatography using an Altex C-18 column and detection at 254 nm. The minimum detection limit was <10 ng.
