Some of the degradation products of buprofezin, a new insecticide cum insect growth regulator, which are likely to be encountered as its metabolites have been synthesised and their structures confirmed by IR and ‘H NMR spectral studies. Among the urea and thiourea analogues screened for insect growth regulatory activity against Dysdercus koenigii, substituted ththureas namely N-phenyl-N’-isopropyl thiourea and N-tert-butyl-N’-isopropyl thiourea exhibited substantial activity.
