A comprehensive pesticidal schedule consisting of butachlor application @ 1.0 and 2.0 kg a.i. ha−1 at transplanting, quinalphos @ 1.0 and 2.0 kg a.i. ha−1 at nursery raising and triazophos @ 0.25 and 0.5 kg a.i. ha−1, 45 d after transplanting, was tested on paddy in 1993 from point of view of harvest time residues. Quinalphos was not detectable in measurable amounts in rice grain, straw or husk whereas butachlor and triazophos were present in traces. In another experiment endosulfan (0.1% and 0.2%) applied separately in two sets of experiments @ 450 1 ha−1 on 15 d old maize plants followed by second spray at 20 d interval, did not leave any measurable amount of endosulfan in maize grains at harvest. However in maize straw total endosulfan residues to the tune of 0.016 μg g−1 in lower dose and 0.034 μg g−1 1inigher rose were present. The tested schedules on paddy and maize can be considered safe from point of view of harvest time residues.
