Abstract

4-Methylbenzalcyanoacetic acid, ethyl 4-methylbenzalcyanoacetate, 4-methylbenzai-cyanoacetamide and 4-methylbenzalmalononiirile, obtained by condeesing 4-methylbenzalaniline with cyanoacetic acid, ethyl cyanoacetatee, yanoacetamide end dalononitrite lespectively, y,ve been tested against Ustilago tritici, Alternaria tenuis, Alternaria alteriata, Sphaeceloma maydis, Colletotricum capsici and Puccinia recondita by spore germinatren inhibition method. 4-Methylbenzalmalononitrile revealed good antifungal activity against U. triticit S. maydis and C. capsici.
