Abstract

Effects of methoprene were assayed on the developmental stages of rice hispa, Dicladispa armigera (Olivier) (Coleoptera, Chrysomelidae) by applying its aqueous suspension on larvae and pupae. Methoprene produced morphogenetic effects on larvae and pupae, The respective LC50 values against larvae and pupae being 1.26 and 1.13 ppm. Formation of intermediates with varying degree of deformities was dose dependent. It produced malformation on elytron, hind wing, pronotal ‘four-proned spine’, antenna, aedeagus and ovipositor in the resultant adultoid when it was applied to pupae.
