Abstract

1,2,4-Oxadiazolines (IHa-IIId) with unsubstituted, 2-methyl, 2-thio and 2-hydroxy substituted N-phenyl ring were synthesized by the addition of benzonitrile oxide to 4-methoxybenzalanilines and its N-phenyl substituted derivatives (la-Id). The products were identified and confirmed on the basis of elemental analysis and spectral studies. These compounds were tested in vitro against Alternaria alternate, Curvularia lunata, Fusarium oxysporum, Stemphylium port and Helminthosporium maydis by spore germination iniibition methoho Compound IIId has been found to possess promising fungitoxicity against all the test fungi.
