The present discussion is aimed to undertake a conceptual analysis of quality of life vis-à-vis the facile assumption that the advancement of modern science along with technology as its by-product has led the contemporary society towards a better and more improved quality of life. In fact, it is only a half-truth. We have adopted a critical view to examine this belief and have come to the conclusion that science does not necessarily lead to a superior quality of life. It all depends on what is meant by ‘quality of life’ which obviously is a value-loaded concept and is culture-specific.
