Abstract

This article explores the question whether the incorporation of technology actually improves the education imparted in general and teaching-learning process in particular? As it is a known fact that it is not gold and wealth that make nations great, but the upbringing of human resources, both teachers and taught, for achieving and sustaining development. In the modern classroom, with the help of technology, one can inculcate all kinds of tools starting from pencil, paper, and chalkboard to the use of presentation software/high-tech tablets/online collaboration/conferencing tools, etc. The newest technologies have added to strengths and given opportunities by allowing innovations in pedagogy, in a virtual manner, that were not possible earlier. It is based on the premise that whatever is used depends fundamentally on what is attempted to be accomplished. It is also important for the learners to understand the ethics and morals of using the online content whereby the responsibility of teachers and educational institutions increase in inculcating the accountability and responsibility of using technology as a learning tool. The contemporary youth may be aware of using Twitter and Facebook, but mostly they are unaware of how to use it for learning.
