Abstract

The main objective of the present study was to validate the prepared multimedia instructional packages (MMIPs). The chalk and talk method of teaching has been gradually replaced by mechanical devices as educational tools in the classrooms. This era heralded with the Skinner's ‘Teaching Machines’ and now it has taken its most advanced form as MMIPs. These modern MMIPs can be helpful in teaching science, as science concepts being dry and abstract always need relevant visual aids or support materials so that learners can develop better understanding of it. To verify the usefulness of MMIPs, investigators prepared it for students of 10th standard on two topics of Science, i.e. Life processes and Control and Coordination. Descriptive survey method was used for the study with a sample of 20 science teachers having good teaching experience. Tool used to validate the MMIP wasa5-point rating scale: multimedia instructional package opinionnaire for teachers (MMIPOT). It was developed and standardized by the investigators. MMIPOT was given to 20 subject experts, teaching Science in various schools of Delhi following CBSE curriculum. The data collected through MMIPOT was analyzed thoroughly using percentage analysis to validate the MMIP. The results for the study revealed that most of the experts, i.e., overall 84%(SA=60% and A=24%) of experts agreed that this MMIP for X standard students in Life Science, developed by the investigator, is effective and good enough for using in classroom teaching learning situations for better learning outcomes and in increasing attention of the students. Also, it was determined that use of MMIP along with regular teaching can be very helpful in increasing attention, motivation and in turn increasing academic achievement of the students.
