Siliguri was a village at the beginning of the twentieth century, but now Siliguri is one of highest urban growth city in West Bengal as well as in the North-East India. The city has experienced rapid expansion of population particularly in the last few decades. The population of the town has continuously increased leading to its outer expansion that is created because of the large number of immigrants from neighbouring countries and adjacent Indian states apart from eastern Bengal. In 1991, Siliguri city was recorded to have 216,950 urban populations and among of them, 48.90 per cent was migrated persons. In 2001 among the total population, 48.96 per cent was migrated people. Here, most important thing is that those persons who migrated from other states of India, among of them most of the migrants are male because most of them migrated in this city for searching job. The study was based on secondary data and data collected from census of India.
