An exploratory study of education and health status of gond tribe: with special reference to Banda tehsil of Sagar district, M.P.

The tribal population is identified as the inhabitants in our country with diversified features. The proposed study selected Gond tribe as Madhya Pradesh is one of the native places of Gond's and has the largest concentration in Sagar District. Banda Tehsil has the largest Gond Population and Budha Khera village, the proposed site for study, is amongst the village having highest Gond population 1,139 as per 2011 census. The proposed study is an attempt to study the health and education status of Gond tribe in Banda Tehsil of Sagar. The study revealed the facts whether the tribal people are aware and benefitted from the Government programmes related to education and health running in these areas or not. The study used purposive sampling for selecting the sample; 212 respondents (head of the family) from Budha Khera (Sisgoyan) village have been selected for the understudy. The data has collected through field survey conducted between 30 Nov. 2016 and 10 Jan. 2017 around Budha Khera village of Banda Tehsil, Sagar by the help of standardised questionnaire. The Multiple Correlation and Regression Coefficient and Kendall Tau and Spearman's Rho (ñ) is used to measure correlation in the case of categorical data for data analysis. Percentagewise analysis is used for analysing other facts related to health and education. The result reveals the various aspects related to socio-economic, health and education status of Gond tribe in the selected area. The study will provide suggestions to the government so that they will implement them to improve the quality of life of the tribal people. The study is highly original; innovative especially it is an effort to highlight on various issues and problems faced by the tribal people.
