This paper discusses WhatsApp which has emerged in response to the entertainment needs of youths of India who are pulling them away from the sanctioned spaces for leisure and entertainment in cities. As entertainment infrastructures in the world as well as in India, it is more money and time consuming. People are finding social media and particularly WhatsApp as a potent means of entertainment. Indian cities are undergoing a rapid transformation and expanding volume of migrant population and they are in search of some sort of entertainment which is being provided by WhatsApp. This paper will analyse the extent of use of WhatsApp among university students and how soon it gets converted into addiction or may remain simply a leisure activity.
