Abstract

Consumers are the essential component for any economy to be successful and in this age of globalisation they are being provided with a great diversity of goods and services. But at the same time, they are exposed to several new threats in the domestic as well as international markets. This phenomenon exposes the consumer to new threats of the market and hence it becomes necessary to understand the nature and types of threats. This article delves into the legal framework, various legislations and measures provided in the legal framework of India to shield the consumers from the hazards of not only the domestic markets but also of the global players in the field and to ensure that their understanding of what they purchase and reality of the product or the service they avail is the same.
