Abstract

Psychologists define happiness as a combination of life satisfaction and the relative frequency of positive and negative effect. As we know, College is the first step for their future and career. If students have high satisfaction with life they will control their life events and manage them well with the situations. So there is need to understand whether there is any relationship between life satisfaction and locus of control or not”. Among different psychological correlates of life satisfaction, the present study focuses upon the locus of control. The objective of the study is to find out the relationship between life satisfaction and Locus of Control among college students. Purposive sampling has been used to choose the sample of the study. The hypothesis of the study was that life satisfaction will be found significantly correlated with Locus of Control. A sample of 100 College students of 20 to 26 years of age were administered with Levenson's Scale for locus of control and Life Satisfaction Scale. The results obtained through correlational analysis revealed high positive correlation between internal locus of control and life satisfaction. Thus, we can conclude that college students perceived that they can control their life events on their own experience satisfaction in their life which leads to development of a positive, healthier and happier life in future.
