Abstract

This study was conducted to ascertain gender specific hopelessness in suicide ideation. 100 college-going students (50 females & 50 males), randomly drawn from various colleges of Gurugram participated in the study. Age ranged between 22 to 28 of years of age with the mean age of 25. All the measures were administered to the sample in a group setting. Selected subjects were tested with Time Questionnaire (Robert Yufit & Bonnie Benzies, 1979) and Beck Hopelessness Scale (BHS; Beck, Weissman, Lester, & Texler, 1974). Obtained data were analysed by Descriptive Statistics, t-ratios. t-ratios revealed the female students scoring significantly high on Suicide Ideation. The study further suggests the need of large scale investigation of personality correlates of suicide on both suicide ideations and attempters.
