Mental Image, Personality and Emotions among Female NCC Cadets and Non Cadets

Abstract

The purpose of present study was to assesses the differences in mental image, personality and emotions among Female NCC cadets and Non cadets. The data was collected on 113 Females (58 NCC Cadets and 55 Non Cadets) within the age range of 17 20 years (Mean age = 17.84 years) from Pune city, India. Groupwise differences were observed on sub dimensions of mental image (visual, auditory, tactile, olfactory, and organic), neuroticism, positive affect and positive emotions. Therefore, to study the relationship groupwise (female cadets and non-cadets) product moment correlations were obtained among the variables of mental image, personality and positive emotion. To study the role of mental image and personality in emotions, the stepwise regression was applied. In Female NCC Cadets, conscientiousness, auditory image, tactile image and visual image all together contributed 39% in positive emotion and agreeableness contributed 15% variance in negative emotions. In Female Non Cadets, neuroticism and tactile image contributed 26% in positive emotions and neuroticism contributed 33% in negative emotions. The further implications have been discussed in the paper.
