This research aimed at studying the psycho-social predictors of drinking behavior and to test the predictive role of individual personality factors, quality of parent-child relationship in drinking behavior of male and female young adults. The purpose of the present study was to see the relationship between personality factors and quality of parent-child relationship and drinking behavior of young adults. The sample consisted of N=120 young adolescents, both male and female (N=60 each), belonging to age bracket 18–25 years, who were engaged in binge alcohol drinking for at least a year at the time of the study. The results showed individual personality factors and quality of parent-child relationship (Father and Mother) were significant predictors of drinking behavior among young adults. There was no gender difference in terms of drinking behavior among young adults. Furthermore, the findings of the study can contribute in formulating effective preventive intervention programs for problem drinkers.
