Abstract

The present study aimed to assess the impact of mindfulness based Preksha Meditation training on the cognitive function of memory of the participants. For this purpose, all the participants under the study were first tested on memory using the PGI Memory Scale. 160 participants were drawn out of a larger sample and they were then randomly assigned to the two conditions viz., experimental and control groups comprising 80 participants each. The experimental group received Preksha Meditation training for a period offour weeks (45 minutes each day for five days in a week), whereas, participants in the control group were not subjected to any training in Preksha Meditation. After the completion of four weeks both groups were assessed again on the PGI Memory Scale. The findings showed improvement in the cognitive function of memory among the participants of the experimental group in comparison to the control group.
