The present study aimed at evaluating the efficacy of CBT in managing anxiety as an internalizing problem among the adolescents. Initially 480 adolescent students were tested to screen out the anxiety affected cases. A group of 30 adolescents with normal level of anxiety, 22 anxiety affected adolescents for treatment group and 22 anxiety affected adolescents to serve in control condition were recruited after the assessment of their anxiety levels. They were administered the STF scale which measures anxiety in terms of state, trait and freefloating anxiety. The experimental group was given CBT training while the control group did not get this opportunity. However, pseudo training was given to this group also to maintain a balance in the situation. The assessment of anxiety was done before and after CBT training (pre & post design). The analyses of data revealed drastic positive changes in the participants of experimental (treatment) group as compared to the control group, i. e., CBT was found to be highly effective in managing the anxiety among the participants who went through CBT training. The CBT appeared to be current gold standard psychotherapy. The results are thoroughly discussed and interpreted and implications and limitations are highlighted. In addition to it, the suggestions for future research are also underlined.
