Abstract

About half of the world's population meets their daily household energy needs with traditional cooking facilities that cause health, gender, natural resource, economic, and environment related problems. Most Ethiopian households use traditional cook stoves to meet their energy needs. Households ’awareness and perception regarding benefits of clean cook stoves play a key role in adoption and sustainable use of modern cooking technologies. Thus, this study assessed the perceived impact of using improved biomass baking stove and electric baking stove. The finding of the study proved that use of improved biomass baking stove and electric baking stove provides many perceived benefits over traditional biomass stove. At the same time, it is perceived that the prices of improved biomass stove and electric stove are significantly higher than the price of traditional biomass stove.
