Abstract

Recently, there is a rapid increase in churches across the globe, and Ghana is one of the countries with the highest population of Christians. According to a report by DW Africa in 2014, there are more than 10, 000 churches in Ghana, this refers not the number of consecrated buildings but to the number of faith-based groups claiming allegiance to Christianity. As a result of this, worshipers keep on increasing, which makes it challenging to manage the activities of the church manually. Because of this, different researchers have developed different applications for managing church activities across the globe, but due to cultural differences and worship style among the nations, it has become impossible to use the same application everywhere. Thus, off-the-shell application does not conform to the way of worship in the country and every church, since worship style differs from church to church. Hence, the current paper sought to design and implement an android based mobile application founded on the cultural and Christian beliefs of Ghanaians for the day-to-day management of the church. The proposed application intends to provide significant merits such as easy performance check, speed and accuracy of operation, cost efficiency, data security, time efficiency, automatic data validation, and reliability, dynamic and user-friendly Graphical User Interface (GUI). It is hoped that this outcome of this study will help churches in Ghana manage their congregation effectively and efficiently.
