Abstract

Ground water is major source of drinking water in rural areas of Korea district. Contamination reported by different studies in ground water of rural areas is a big problem creating health hazards. In present study, groundwater quality of selected 04 areas of Korea district is evaluated using standards methods and procedures of sampling and estimation. Represented water samples have been collected and assessed for their suitability for drinking purpose. The various physical and chemical parameters are studied are pH, Total dissolved solids, Total hardness, Total alkalinity, calcium, magnesium and iron. The present study revealed that the physico-chemical characteristics of the samples were within the permissible drinking water standards limits prescribed by W.H.O. The quality of ground water is suitable for drinking purpose in terms of physical and chemical characteristics.
