The aim of the paper is to investigate the Soret and Dufour effect on the unsteady MHD free convection flow, heat and mass transfer characteristics in a viscous, incompressible and electrically conducting fluid past over a stretching cylinder by taking into account the chemical reaction. The problem is governed by coupled non-linear partial differential equations. These equations are transformed into ordinary differential equations using suitable similarity transformations. The resultant equations of the problem have been solved numerically by the fourth order Runge-Kutta shooting method. The effects of governing parameters on the flow variables are discussed quantitatively with the aid of graphs for the flow field, temperature field, species concentration field. Finally, the numerical values for skin friction coefficient, Nusselt number and Sherwood number are tabulated and discussed.
