Abstract

Bougainvillae spectabilis is most commonly found in India as an ornamental plant. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the qualitative analysis of phyto constituents and antibacterial activity of ethanol extract of Bougainvillae spectabilis flowers were tested Gram positive bacteria and Gram negative bacteria by observing the zone of inhibition. It was observed that ethanolic extract showed maximum inhibitory activity on E.coli than Staphylococcus aures. Phytochemicals present in extracts may be responsible for the antibacterial activity.
