Three distinct Mimosa pudica extracts were used here in study in an attempt to ascertain their anti-ulcer properties.
Rat models with ethanol ulcers were employed for this. Therefore, pH, total acidity, ulcer index, free acidity measurement, and volume of gastric secretion estimation were the criteria used to assess anti-ulcer activity.
The results presented in this communication demonstrate that, wrt the standard control, the methanolic extract of Mimosa pudica leaves significantly (P < 0.01) decreased the amount of stomach acid secretion, gut pH, including the free as well total acidity values, along with ulcer index.
The study has demonstrated the potential of the Mimosa pudica plant, in the form of a methanolic extract, as a possible therapeutic anti-ulcer agent.
