The effect of Core-combined Exercise on Dynamic Balance Based on the instability of the surface

Abstract

To analyze the effects of core stabilization and combined exercise on the dynamic balance in young healthy women, based on surface stability.

The subjects of this study were separated into two groups: stable and unstable surface groups. They performed exercise composed of a warm-up, the main session, and a cool-down for 60 minutes three times a week for four weeks. Dynamic balance was measured by limits of stability. Two-way ANOVA was used to compare the dynamic balance according to the groups and time.

The balance parameter measured was the range of the anteroposterior, mediolateral center of pressure displacement, trace length, C90 area, C90 angle, and velocity. Between the pre-test and the post-test, there was a notable difference in the mediolateral center of pressure displacement upon the stable surface and the unstable surface.

The core stabilization and combined exercise performed on top the stable surface and unstable surface could improve the dynamic balance of the mediolateral direction.
