Since the 1990s, platelet rich plasma (PRP) took an important role in medicine in both therapeutic and plastic purposes. It is preferred because it is the patient own cells, this make that free of adverse effects. In dentistry, it took an accepted rule in facilitating wound healing.

In this study, the PRP was included in the treatment of gingivitis associated with pregnancy. The study included 48 pregnants in different trimesters.2.5 cc of PRP injected in both upper and lower attached gingivae and inter-dental papillae.

PRP injection showed a significant effect in treating gingivitis associated with pregnancy and this was due to it antimicrobial effect plus the concentrated growth factors that were effective in facilitating healing and promoting its attachment during the pregnancy trimesters.

In this study PRP shows efficacy in management of pregnancy gingivitis, this was clear when comparison was made between 2 study groups. It was obvious that regular visiting to pregnants to dental clinic in essential to monitor oral health status, but injecting PRP facilitated and improved those results, besides this modality of treatment offers a zone of safety for pregnants as many researches showed that it is free of any adverse effects, compared with worries when we use chemicals or drugs.
