A series of new substituted coumarinyl schiff base (AJS1-AJS6) have been synthesized by condensing substituted 3-acetyl coumarin and substituted aniline in alcohol medium. The intermediate 3-acetyl coumarin were synthesized by Knoevenagel reaction between substituted salicylaldehyde and ethylacetoacetate in presence of piperidine as catalyst.
