This study evaluate the antibacterial, antifungal and antioxidant activity from cones extracts of Pinus halepensis Miller.
Three solvents were used to extract cone of P. halepensis (hexane, acetone/water 9: 1, ethanol) using soxhlet apparatus and dryness by rotary evaporator. The activity of crud extracts as antibacterial against a number of pathogenic species (Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus pneumonia, α-hemolytic Strep. viridans, Escherichia coli) antifungal against yeast (Candida albicans), and antioxidant activity was evaluated.
Qualitative phytochemical analysis was presented in ethanolic extracts of P. halepensis, Glycosids, Tanins, Saponins, Flavonoids, Terpenoids, Sterols and Steroids, Coumarins, and Alkaloids. The agar well diffusion method was used and the inhibition zones of different concentrations were calculated for antimicrobial activity. The percentage inhibition of antioxidant (1-absorbance of test/absorbance of control)x 100 was detected.
