Ampullary and periampullary tumors are tumors that arise in the vicinity of ampulla of Vater, causing significant morbidity, treated by different surgical modalities among these is Whipple procedure, this study aims to review ampullary and periampullary tumor patients who underwent Whipple procedure clinically, pathologically, and to assess the quality of care in Gastroenterology and Hepatology center. This is a prospective analytical study carried out within Gastroenterology and Hepatology Hospital & Baghdad Teaching Hospital. The data collection period first of February 2016 to ends in 2018. Results: 36 patients with ampullary tumour, 20 males (54.2%) and 16 females (45.8%), their ages ranging from 25 to 75year old with mean age 45.22 SD±12.27. underwent Classic pancreaticoduodenectomy in (50%) of patients, pylorus preserving pancreaticoduodenectomy in 14 patients (38.88%) and artery first posterior approach in 5 patients (11.11%) the rate of post-operative complications was 66.7%. Early post-operative death occurred in 3 patients out of 24 giving a case fatality of 8.3%. The histopathology of all resected tumors was proving to be 100% adenocarcinoma, R0 resection achieved in 88.8% of patients. 50% of patients are node negative.
