The current study was carried out to find out phytochemical and pharmacognostic standards along with HPTLC analysis of leaves.
The macroscopical studies indicated alternate, green colour, entire margin, linear-lanceolate, rounded and bilobed apex, running parallel venation, smooth and glabrous surface, broad, up to 15 cm long. Physiochemical parameters showed 9.5% total ash, 0.9% acid insoluble ash, 7.65% water-soluble extractive value and loss on drying at 105°C is 7.0%. Preliminary phytochemical screening showed the presence of alkaloid, tannin, steroid, flavonoids, cardiac glycosides, anthraquinone, coumarin, saponins in different extracts. Two flavonoids lupeol and quercetin were notified in HPTLC fingerprinting. The findings of this study could be useful in setting future prospects of this plant.
