A simple, sensitive extractive spectrophotometric method for the determination of Meropenem has been proposed. The method is based on the formation of an ion-association complex between the drug and acidic dye methyl orange, which was a pale yellow colored chromogen extracted with dichloro methane from the aqueous phase, measured at 400 nm. The Beer’s law was obeyed in the concentration range of 10 - 30 μg/ml. Thus results of the proposed method was validated statistically and applied successfully to the determination of Meropenem in bulk and its dosage forms.
