The present work involves extraction of flavonoids from leaves of Bauhinia acuminataLinn. Thin layer chromatography and column chromatography were used to separate concentrated fractions from direct and successive Soxhlet extractions. The isolated compounds were identified using different chemical tests and characterized using Uv-Visible spectrophotometer, Fourier transform infrared spectrometer (FTIR), nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR). Moreover, the isolated compounds were evaluated for their anti-cancer potential using MTT dye reduction assay. UV, IR, 1H NMR, and MS. The chemical and spectral analysis confirmed the presence of Isorhamnetin 3-sophoroside-7-glucoside and Quercetin. Isorhamnetin 3-sophoroside-7-glucoside. Moreover, both compounds showed anti-cancer effectiveness against Hep G2 liver cancer cells with IC50 values of 322.99µg/mL and 234.38µg/mL respectively. Thus, the isolated flavonoids from ethanolic extracts of Bauhinia acuminata Linn leaves exhibited considerable anticancer properties.
